The Mediation Process

What is Redefining Divorce?

We are an organization developed to assist couples through amicable dissolutions. The goal of Redefining Divorce is to help people get through an extremely difficult time by providing empathy, understanding, guidance, and affordable fees. Redefining Divorce is successful because we do not force the couple to continue on with the dissolution process if they have decided to reconcile.

We do not argue with other counsel and compete with their billing schedules to drive our client’s fees through the roof. We have one flat fee which should sustain the couple through the entire process. If we settle prior to the completion of all six sessions, the couple will be refunded the remaining amount of money.

Redefining Divorce focuses on quick resolutions by eliminating multiple parties and mediates between the couple only. The couple develops their own visitation schedule with their children, decides how they want their property divided, and makes any other arrangements they feel necessary to make the final outcome work.

Why does it work?

CONTROLLED: The couple makes the decisions regarding their agreement, not the judge or the attorney. The couple decides when to meet, how often, and for how long when trying to come to an agreement. They will decide their own issues and how they want to resolve them. The role of the mediator is to assist the couple through the settlement process with efficiency and professionalism.

COST-EFFECTIVE: Because the clients are in control, they know exactly how much money they are spending. We offer our services at one flat fee.

CONCISE: The couple sets their own timeline rather than waiting for court dates that are far into the future. With fewer parties involved and fewer schedules to work around, it is easier to reach a fair solution in a timely manner.
